Ain't Nobody Got Time for That

I think there is a special ring in hell reserved for people who drive slowly.

I wish horrible and in-unutterable things about the drivers who go 5, 10, and yes, commonly 15 miles per hour UNDER the posted speed limit during my 18 mile, single road, no passing zones, drive to get to the interstate.

It fills me with rage.

When you see multiple cars stacked up behind you, pull the fuck over, you goddamn son of a bitch douche-canoe.  Or know that yes, I suck for tailgating you a bit, but the only reason I am doing that (along with flashing my lights at you) is because you are going 35 in a 50, which there is literally no excuse for unless your car is broken, in which case, pull the fuck over.

Sorry to bitch at you, internet, but I am sick of it taking me 35 minutes to go 18 miles.  Which is 5 minutes faster than it took yesterday, so yay?

Happy Wednesday!

World's Best Weekend

What a great weekend.

It is always hard to come back into work Monday morning, but it is especially hard when your weekend at home felt like a weekend away at a cabin on a lake.

Which is what our house feels like most weekends.

Winner winner chicken dinner.

Saturday morning my Mountain Man took me to brunch.  Which is a big deal because he doesn't like going out to brunch.  It was lovely.

Then we did some errands which were proceeded by laying in the sun for copious amounts of hours.

Made a yummy dinner and watched a great movie, Django.

And talked Mountain Man into an ICE CREAM DATE.

Booya.

Perfect Saturday.

Sunday I was up and at 'em bright and early to knock out an 11 mile run.  And it was fantastic.  Just what I needed.  BOOM.

Followed by more naps in the sun.

Followed up by a Cinco de Drinko feast for just the two of us, complete with grilled steak fajitas and a pitcher of fresh made margs.

Of which two were strong enough to knock us both on our asses.

So be kind to me today, my head hurts a bit.

Hope you all had as fantastic a weekend as we did at Goodwin Ranch.

Why It Sucks To Be Me

Get ready to break out the world's smallest violin.  I am about to tell you the number one reason it sucks to be this gal right here.

And it is especially awful this time of the year.

Mountain Man REFUSES to go with me to get ice cream after dinner at any of the various ice cream places that New England is known for.

Get in my belleh
The man hates ice cream and refuses to make the 10 minute drive to the closest ice cream shack, which means I have to go by myself (lame) or suffer at home without any soft serve (also lame).

Feel sorry for me.

Happy Friday, folks!  Hope you are ready to get your cinco de drinko on!

I'll Have Another

Last year at this time I was getting ready to head down to Louisville for the Kentucky Derbs with the greatest girls you can imagine.

And since this beautiful spring weather has me all chipper and because it is Throw Back Thursday (#tbt for the win) (#jk #ihatetbt) I wanted to just remind myself and the rest of the world how much fun I had last year doing up the Derby right.

We looked good at Churchill Downs, did we not?

Happy almost Friday, muffins.  Hope you are able to enjoy this spring weather as much as I am!

(Thank Heaven's to Betsy for this 5 day forecast.)

Spring has Sprung

After what seemed like an especially long winter, spring has finally full sprung at Goodwin Ranch, and we could not be more pleased about it.

Even Mountain Man has been smiling more since he can wear shorts and flip flops.

To celebrate mother nature taking mercy on us, we hosted a BBQ this weekend to watch a local raft race--people in the community build rafts and have to float just under 2 miles down the river.  There are fun costumes and really creative raft ideas.  We moved the grill right over to the river for optimum spectating.

The weather was perfect, and I was in high heaven being able to wear sandals again and sit outside in the sun with friends.

Even Mr. Texas himself joined us!

Sunday was recovery day.  My 11 mile run turned into a 6 mile run, and then I came home and promptly fell asleep outside for a solid hour.  It was just what the doctor ordered.

It is so nice having the doors and windows open again so we can hear the river trickling by, hear the birds chirping, smell the scents of BBQ wafting over, and other spring smells like dirt and grass and rain.  I love seeing the sun set over our little piece of river every night, dusk getting later and later each night.

I love spring.

Happy Monday' y'all.

Embarrassment for Entertainment's Sake

I have had some slight writers block these last couple of weeks, but instead of going completely dark and just wrapping up shop, I thought I would share with you three old embarrassing stories to entertain you with this Friday morn.  Hopefully more blogging to come.

Here is to getting to know a whole new side of me.

1.
When I was a young teen I went camping with my summer camp.  This wasn't camping at a camp site, this was middle of the woods, nowhere to go, cooking over a fire camping.  It was raining (of course) and in the middle of the night I had to pee.  Since we were in the middle of the Massachusetts wood with not a bathroom to be found for miles, and it was cold raining, and because I never learned how to pee in the woods, I decided to take a cup (and my best friend and a flashlight) out into the woods to do my business.  I had on HUGE baggy sweatpants and I really didn't want to take them off to pee (it was cold and rainy and we were in the woods and I don't know how to pee if I am not on a toilet) and my 15 year old wisdom told me that I could pee into the cup while holding it IN my huge baggy sweatpants.  Just like when you pee into a cup at the doctors, right (minus the sweatpants part)?

Except I was peeing into a DIXIE cup, which holds a total of about 2 ounces.  So of course my dixie cup started over flowing.  Into my pants.  Which made me laugh.  Which made me pee harder.  Which made me drop the dixie cup of urine.  In my pants.  And I kept on peeing.

It should also be noted that I was making out with a boy in my tent before all of this, and he was expecting me to come back and finish our makeout sesh.

2.
A couple of years ago we went to visit some of Mountain Man's old college friends.  Being that I am entering the golden years, I was exhausted as soon as the sun went down and decided to take a nap while the rest of the guys sat on the couch and shot the shit.  I made my self comfortable with my head on Mountain Man's lap and stretched out over the rest of the guys and swiftly fell asleep.
Only to be woken to the guys all laughing.
Because I had been farting in my sleep.
While laying on top of them all.

3.
When I first started my current job, my new coworker was giving me a tour of some offices.  We were climbing up a set of (very public) stairs and I tripped.  UP the stairs.  Already embarrassing, but then, instead of reaching out to grab, oh, I don't know, the railing, another step, etc, I reached up and grabbed my new coworkers butt to stop my fall.  We had known each other a grand total of five minutes and I was using her posterior to cushion my landing for falling up the stairs.

Happy Friday, y'all.

It's been awhile

I haven't bogged for 16 days and I have no excuses save for one--I have been enjoying having a life with my husband again and it is taking all of my time.

Lame excuse, eh?

In the winter I become a single woman.  I lose Mountain Man to the mountain (shocker, eh?) and from Thanksgiving until the end of March we do not have a day off together.  It aint no walk in the park, let me tell you.  Unless that walk in the park is uphill both ways in the freezing rain.  Then I suppose it is a walk in the park.

But I digress.

For the last three weekends Mountain Man has been back, and oh mylanta, life is wonderful again.  I feel like I am in an Allegra commercial (apres allergy pill) where everyone is smiling and singing and flowers are popping up and everyone is just so happy.

Except we still have snow on our lawn and if I started singing how much I loved Mountain Man while walking down the aisles of Hannafords he might hand me divorce papers.

Again, I digress.

Over the last three weekends we have relaxed, laughed, and enjoyed ourselves more than we have done since last fall.  Let me tell you what a difference it makes to have time off together again:

Remember when you were young and started falling in love with your partner and you had those fun butterflies?  Well, 12+ years later I still have that for Mountain Man and those butterflies are back in full force after hibernating all winter.

First we made vodka spiked lemonade out of the lemons we were handed (winter skiing conditions at the end of March) and went skiing.

Then we took a little trip and went (indoor) skydiving (and shopping. and eating.)  Even the 4 hours spent in the car were fun.

Then my Mountain Man and I hit the road again and enjoyed each others company (and too many cocktails) and pranks and outdoors and old friends.  I was even taken on a proper happy hour mini date (those are a real thing).

Swoon, I am glad to have a husband again :)
